intro

Aquatic fitness is very different from exercising on land and having the skills to teach classes in a pool can make you an in-demand instructor. Group exercise continues to grow in popularity and taking this activity away from the gym floor provides an exciting change of pace for those you teach. Our Level 2 Aqua Instructor course teaches you everything you need to know about planning and teaching effective exercise in water. You’ll also discover how water affects the body, and various techniques for teaching cardiovascular and muscular strength exercises.

The course is certified by YMCA Awards (formerly CYQ) and we deliver it with a mix of distance learning and practical sessions. This ensures you’ll have plenty of time to master the technical aspects of the course before you undertake your final assessment and teach a planned exercise session.

This qualification is very flexible in its use and provides the opportunity for fitness instructors, exercise to music teachers, and personal trainers to expand on their repertoire. It can also be used as evidence of continuing professional development (CPD). If you’d like to know more about how this qualification can be used to further your development as an exercise professional, our dedicated careers team will be able to give you all the advice you need.

    Pilates course

I really enjoyed the Pilates course. The practical element was very well run and the instructor was knowledgeable and engaged well with the students. Online support was also very good and didn't put me under pressure at all.

    ETM Level 2

I've just completed my Exercise to Music Instructor Level 2 course with HFE and the experience couldn't have been better. Not having a background or training in fitness or teaching, I didn't really know what to expect. It was hard work - you have to be motivated to do the home study but I did manage to fit it around a full time job and the support I got from my tutor was invaluable. They were always really quick to respond if I had a question.
