Kinesiology tape, sometimes referred to as kinesio tape or body tape, was developed by Japanese practitioner Dr Kenzo Kase in the late 1970s. Dr Kase sought to boost the body’s natural healing process and this led him to develop tape that has a similar profile and elasticity to human skin.
In recent years, the use of kinesio tape has exploded in popularity. Everyone from athletes, professional sportspeople across a range of disciplines, and even the general exercising public use kinesiology tape to aide pain relief, reduce inflammation and improve muscle function. In fact, the tape can be applied to virtually any problem with the musculoskeletal system.

There are no formal assessments for this FMT course, however you will be given the opportunity to meet several key learning objectives. These include: gaining a basic knowledge of the research surrounding kinesiology taping; learning and practising correct tape cutting techniques; learning, practising and mastering the concepts and application of the four main types of tape.
The course is suitable for a range of fitness professionals including Pilates instructors, yoga teachers and personal trainers.
There are no formal prerequisites, but it is advisable that you have a basic knowledge of anatomy, so Level 2 is ideal.
