The Personal Trainer’s Guide to Weight Loss

2 minute read

Body composition is becoming an ever-popular goal for personal training clients. Whether the end result is appearing in a photoshoot or competing in a marathon, weight loss and fat reduction are intrinsic to the process. The rise in popularity of body transformations also comes at a time when the obesity epidemic continues to sweep the globe.

Certain moves have to made to stem the tide, including the proposal of personal trainers being drafted in to help the NHS with those most at risk from diabetes. It’s not always strictly the case, but chronic diseases (such as diabetes) are often synonymous with a high BMI/obesity.

As the NHS has realised, personal trainers and other fitness professionals have their part to play in tackling the obesity crisis. As you’ll see from the infographic below, weight loss isn’t simply a matter of exercising more or eating less – it’s often a complex mix of body type and state of mind, with exercise and nutrition being equally important.

Our infographic analyses all these elements with how they relate to weight gain, and then offers evidence-based approaches to tackling weight loss. If you’re interested in furthering your fitness career, then our Become a Personal Trainer guide answers the most frequently asked questions about getting into the industry.
