Become a Yoga Teacher

Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that dates back over 5,000 years. It’s a holistic form of exercise that promotes the union of mind, body and universal spirit. Those who practice yoga reap many benefits, including greater strength, increased flexibility, improved posture, lasting periods of relaxation and much more.

To succeed as a yoga teacher, it is necessary to develop a deep understanding of all things yoga and an ability to perform the techniques effectively – this is exactly what our yoga teacher courses and comprehensive training will give you.

HFE = Caring, friendly, health and fitness course provider

I have just completed my second course with HFE and would like to compliment them on their quality of care and provision of courses. The tutors have been fantastic, are readily available if needed and are friendly and welcoming, offering extra advice on setting up your business as well as ensuring you make it through the course.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What prior experience do I need to become a yoga teacher?

There are no formal prerequisites for our yoga teacher courses - your success will be determined by your passion for the practice and your commitment to the programme. Before attending the practical workshops, you will ideally have some experience of performing yoga techniques – if not you’ll have to ensure that you regularly attend classes or sessions during the home-study period. Throughout your course you will also need to undertake further practice as a student to further develop your knowledge and skills.

  • What can I expect to learn on my yoga course?

Our courses are designed to prepare you for a successful career as a yoga teacher. Broadly speaking, you'll learn about the history and philosophies of yoga; the principles behind practice; how to plan and programme a class or session; how to perform the postures (asanas); the best ways to teach/instruct yoga.

The specific course content will depend on the package that you select. For more information about the course content, please visit the individual course pages.

  • Once qualified, where can I find work as a yoga teacher?

There's a wide range of places where a yoga teacher can find work. A small selection of these include: private health clubs and gyms, yoga retreats and holiday parks, cruise ships, private yoga studios, local authority leisure centres, and working on a one-on-one basis with clients in their own homes or workplace. Yoga teachers can be self-employed and work on a freelance basis, or be employed – the opportunities are literally endless.

  • Is this an accredited yoga course?

Upon completion of this course you'll receive a qualification from YMCA Awards, the health and fitness industry's leading awarding body. The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) awards 20 CPD points for this course and those that qualify are automatically eligible for Level 3 status.

  • What resources and support will you provide on my yoga course?

All of the resources and materials you’ll need to complete the course are fully included – this will include training manuals, live webinars, audiobooks, e-learning and a range of practice assessments.

During the distance learning phase of the course you'll be supported by a team of highly experienced tutors who will guide you through the programme. The face-to-face course elements are taught by leading yoga experts who are also well qualified and experienced in this field.

  • What's the best to pay for my yoga course?

There are a few options available to you, leaving you with the freedom to choose. If you decide to pay for your course in full, up front, then you'll be eligible for a 5% discount off the total price. Alternatively, you could pay a £100 deposit and settle the rest 14 days before your first practical weekend.

There's also the option to pay in monthly instalments over the course of six months.

Another alternative is to use the government-backed 24+ Advanced Learning Loan and this allows you to only pay back the loan once you're earning over £21,000 a year.
