Launch your career in manual therapy with this innovative and hands-on courseEnquire today
Discover proven and effective massage and stretching skills to treat injuries, promote recovery and improve performance.
The role of a sports massage therapist is an all-encompassing one and can be as much about treating injuries as it is preventing them. There are also aspects of assessing conditions, aiding rehabilitation and dealing with the emotional side of pain.
Sports massage isn’t solely reserved for elite athletes and sportspeople and while it can be incredibly effective for these groups, massage techniques can be adapted for everyone from occasional gym goers to office workers.
Due to the sheer variety of people that massage can benefit, employment opportunities are never in short supply. Developing your own clinic or practice in a self-employed capacity is an incredibly popular route. There’s also the option to work for an existing establishment or find work at sporting events, such as marathons and triathlons.
Massage therapy also presents a fantastic CPD opportunity for already qualified personal trainers, Pilates instructors and yoga teachers.
Our sports massage course is fully accredited by YMCA Awards and recognised by both CIMSPA and REPs. Currently, we deliver in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff, with more venues across the UK to be announced very soon.
Sports massage is an inherently hands-on discipline so it’s only right that the course reflects that. The skills and knowledge you’ll gain during your journey will empower you to achieve great success and truly impact the lives of your clients.
Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll encounter:
In conjunction with the above, you’ll also learn about all-important health and safety, the history of and development of sports massage, and more.
To make things as engaging as possible and to give you the best chance of passing first time, we’ll give you the chance to demonstrate your theory and practical knowledge in a range of ways.
There are no formal entry requirements or prerequisites for this sports massage course.
Before you embark on your first practical weekend, we normally recommend at least 8 weeks of home study and that’s based on an hour a day.
During this time, you’ll have opportunity to familiarise yourself with your bespoke manuals and the various resources available on LES (the Learner Engagement System).

All good so far, Amber has been really helpful and friendly putting me at ease due to my being an "older" student! Looking forward to receiving my manuals in the post and accessing online material. There was a slight computer glitch when enroling but Amber quickly sorted that out for me :-) Looking forward to a new career - starting with Level 2 gym instructor, next stop level 3 PT :-)
Thank you to Janine for great advise and clear explanations. Janine helped me get back on track after a break in my studies... I am feeling re-engaged, motivated and confident to continue.
Thank you to my tutor along the away for her help and encouragement. The online system is really useful for learning and taking the mock exams. I also met some lovely people on the course who I keep in touch with and swap ideas.
I really got the impression that the staff wanted everyone to pass, and were looking to help you improve on areas that may of been lacking...
