Every single day, personal trainers are on the gym floor, using their expertise to get inside the heads of clients, design programmes that work time after time, and create life-changing and often remarkable results. Becoming a leading personal trainer goes quite a bit beyond counting reps and telling clients to eat a decent source of protein with a side of fresh vegetables. That may sound reductive, but to become an expert in your field, you’re going to need in-depth knowledge and specialist skills.
This is where HFE comes in. This course has been specifically designed to make you more adaptable, more marketable and more versatile than the competition. Here’s just a brief overview of what you’ll encounter on your personal training journey:
Plus, you’ll also learn vital goal-setting, consultation and motivational skills, and core stability and flexibility concepts.
Also available with the Premium and Master PT packages is the Advanced Trainer Module which explores increasingly popular foam rolling, suspension training and kettlebells.
Our personal trainer course has been split into various components giving you the best chance of passing first time and securing your first PT job in no time at all. Here’s how you’ll demonstrate your theory and practical knowledge:
To embark on your personal training journey, you must hold a recognised Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification. This can either be obtained via blended learning or as a part of our online personal trainer course.
It’s also beneficial if you have some prior gym-based experience. So if you know your way around the gym floor and have used resistance and cardiovascular machines before, you’ll be off to a flying start.
Before your first practical weekend, we usually recommend 6-8 weeks of home study and this is based on an hour a day.
During this period, take time to familiarise yourself with your Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology, Level 3 Nutrition and Level 3 Personal Training manuals. You’ll also find plenty of resources and video lectures, on LES (the Learner Engagement System).

Take your qualification further by combining it with others, saving money and benefiting from exclusive extras like videos, career support and job opportunities.
