Learn More About This Yoga Instructor Course

Intro

As a practice, yoga has a rich and fascinating history that dates back well over 5,000 years. Today, yoga is a holistic form of exercise used by many to create a stronger connection between the mind, body and spirit, develop flexibility, improve posture and aid relaxation.

There’s also a growing audience of athletes and other sports professionals using yoga to increase their performance and reduce the risk of injury. It is an incredibly inclusive and widely applicable form of exercise and the figures back that up. Reports in recent years suggest that yoga is the single most popular form of group exercise in the UK with over 1.2 million people taking part in classes in any given month.

Our Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga is a qualification designed to help you become a successful and impactful yoga instructor. On your journey to become a yogi, we’ll provide you with flexible study options to suit your schedule, practical yoga experience, and bespoke learning resources which include video lectures and yoga asana demonstrations.

This Level 3 yoga course is fully accredited by YMCA Awards and recognised by CIMSPA, as well as national and international health and fitness employers.

What You'll Learn

Becoming a world-class yoga instructor takes much more than simply learning poses and breathing techniques. This is why we’ve designed a course that simply goes above and beyond, and that’s exactly what you need to further your yoga career.

Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll encounter on your yoga journey:

  • History and Philosophy of Yoga

  • Understanding Yoga Asana

  • Yogic Breathing and Pranayama Techniques

  • Planning to Teach Yoga

  • Anatomy and Physiology

  • Teaching a Yoga Class

How You'll be Assessed

Learning about yoga is one thing, but to really exceed you’ll need to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you’ve gained. Our yoga teacher training course gives you ample opportunity to do that and here’s an overview of what you’ll encounter:

  • Yoga Journal

You'll need to log at least 60 hours of asana, pranayama and/or meditation practice

  • Theory Exams

Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health, and Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology

  • Practical Assessment

Bring everything together and deliver a yoga lesson as you would in the real world

  • Worksheets

Complete four worksheets each centred around a different aspect of yoga

  • Yoga Lesson Plan

Demonstrate how you would structure a yoga class

  • Yoga Progressive Plan

Design a 10-week yoga programme for an individual client

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for our yoga course, but it would be beneficial if you already had a Level 2 Gym or Level 2 Exercise to Music qualification.

Additionally, it would be ideal if you have experience of performing yoga asana (poses) and attending yoga classes, this will give you the best possible head start.

Timetable

Before you attend your first practical yoga weekend, we recommend that you complete 6-8 weeks of home study, based on an hour a day.

This will give you ample opportunity to read and understand your Level 2 and Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology, and your Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga manuals. You’ll also have access to LES (Learner Engagement System) where you’ll find a range of online learning resources including practice tests and video lectures.

  • Weekend 1

Discover the history and philosophy of yoga and take part in a tutor-lead yoga session

  • Weekend 2

Take part in practical workshops covering the various stages of a yoga class

  • Weekend 3

Put everything into practice with your theory exams and practical yoga assessment
