Our Level 2 Aqua Instructor course teaches you everything you need to know about planning and teaching effective exercise in water. You’ll also discover how water affects the body and how you can use this to your advantage to teach exciting, engaging and effective water-based classes.
The course is certified by YMCA Awards and is delivered with a mix of distance learning and practical training sessions. This blended approach ensures you’ll have plenty of time to master the technical aspects of the course before you undertake your final assessments.
This qualification is very flexible and is especially popular with exercise to music teachers and personal trainers looking to expand on their repertoire and increase the number of classes, sessions or services that they can offer. It also makes for a great piece of continuing professional development (CPD) evidence for those looking to learn new skills.
There are no formal prerequisites for this course, but we do recommend that you already hold a Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification. Experience of participating in water-based exercise sessions will also be incredibly useful.
If you don’t already have a fitness instructor qualification, you will need to complete the anatomy and physiology, and the principles of exercise and fitness modules also, and this would incur an additional fee of £100.00.

As this is a blended learning course, we’ll assess you in a range of practical and theoretical ways. This gives you the best chance of passing first time and successfully launching your aqua instructor career. Please note: If you don’t already hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction (or equivalent) you will also need to undertake the anatomy and physiology module and this will require you to complete a theory exam also.
