“We retire too early… Our prime of life should be in the 70s and old age should not come until we are almost 100”, those are the famous words of Pilates founder, the eponymous Joseph Pilates and it’s hard to argue with his outlook, especially considering what he was able to achieve with his own body.

Mat-based Pilates offers a wealth of benefits including reducing stress levels, improving balance and strengthen the core. It can also prove incredibly effective in alleviating the symptoms of age-related conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis. As a population, we are living longer than we ever have done before and staying active well into our older years. As a Pilates instructor, your role is to ensure that continues and that you’re helping as many clients as possible.

To aid your development, we’ve created Level 3 Pilates for Older Adults and it provides a perfect upskill opportunity for Pilates professionals. Essentially, this combines the Level 3 Exercise for Older Adults course with a specific hands-on workshop designed to help you adapt Pilates exercises for a rapidly growing special population.

Level 3 Exercise Referral Diploma

With this qualification, you’ll be able to work with an expanded range of clients, helping them manage chronic illnesses and conditions like asthma, obesity, arthritis and diabetes.

As the name suggests, the Level 3 Exercise Referral Diploma enables you to get involved with exercise/GP referral schemes and work alongside various public and private health organisations referring clients.

The course tackles a wide-range of subjects, including professional practice, pathophysiology of various conditions, programming exercise for medical conditions, the role of medications, and assessing and monitoring referred clients.
