Bridget Draisey Success Story
Why did you choose the course you did?
I chose the Level 2 Gym Instructor course to increase my skills and knowledge and I was offered funding to take the course.
Why did you choose HFE to deliver your training?
HFE contacted me via text.
What is your background with exercise and fitness training?
I started out as a dance instructor 10 years ago and taught at my local leisure centre. I then passed my Exercise to Music Level 2 qualification via distance learning. After this I have been teaching exercise classes at my local YMCA. I was contacted by HFE and offered the Level 2 Gym Instructor course. Since passing this I now cover gym classes at the YMCA.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I really enjoyed the practical training. I thought the instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful and the content really interesting. I thought the other learners that I met were great and highly motivated.
What did you find most challenging about your course?
As I didn’t really use the gym before the training I found remembering all the resistance machine exercises challenging.
How would you rate the quality of teaching provided by your course tutors?
The teaching was excellent. 10 out of 10.
To what extent did you feel supported during the home-study phase of your course?
As I had already completed the ETM Level 2 I didn’t need support with the home study but I knew my tutor would help out if I needed it.
How would you rate the teaching and learning materials provided to you?
The manuals were very good and I mostly used these as I did not need to do the theory exam. I didn’t really use the online material.
What is your current role?
I work as an exercise and gym instructor at the YMCA on a casual basis. My main job is a careers adviser.
What are your future training and career plans?
I would like to change career and work as an occupational therapy or physiotherapy support worker. I would also like to progress onto a level 3 exercise and fitness course.
